Today, we will be randomly assigned a group and a composer. First, we will research the composer, and write facts down about them. Then, we will narrow down those facts to the most important ones.

Task

Your task will be to learn and present on a composer from the Romantic period. You will be put in small, random groups, and assigned a composer. Group one will have Ludwig van Beethoven. Group two will have Anton Reicha. Group three will have Peter Hansel. Group four will have James Hewitt. Each group will have one topic per person. There will be the life, works, musical impact, and fun facts about your composer! You will have 2-3 42 minute periods to do your research, then 1-2 days for the presentations themselves. The websites needed will be listed on the worksheet, as well as the teacher page under resources.

Process

1. The teacher will break the class into groups. The students will receive their composer.

2. The students will be given the materials needed for the assignment. (worksheet, pencil, paper)

3. Each student will get a laptop from the cart and begin their WebQuest.

4. The groups will work together, as the teacher makes sure no one has a question or problem. The students will write the information, and narrow it for presentation purposes.

5. If students finish, they will turn their worksheet in whenever they do. If not, they will after class.

6. On day two, students will either begin their PowerPoint, Prezi, or other presentation type. If not, they will finish their research then do this.

7. On day three, students will begin presenting, if they can. If not, they will have another day to finish. If enough students are done to present, the ones who are not can present on the "fourth" day. This will also happen if students go over time on presentations.

Evaluation

Students will work cooperatively during this assignment. Students worked cooperatively the entire time. Students were cooperative most of the time. Students had to be asked to cooperate, and had issues. Students were asked more than once to cooperate, or had to switch groups because of issues.
Students will present a 3-5 minute presentation.  3-5 minutes, prepared. closer to 3 minutes, less prepared. closer to 3 minutes, but hardly prepared. 1-2 minutes, unprepared.
Each student will turn in a worksheet, with their own research information. all worksheets were turned in at the end. most worksheets were turned in at the end. less worksheets, most of which were copied. all worksheets were turned in, but they were all copied from one person.
