Introduction
The Civil Rights movement made waves for both African Americans and other minorities that were facing inequality or oppression in the 1960s. The overwhelming success of the Civil Rights movement paved the way for other movements to rise up and demand equality. These movements include the women's rights movement, the Latino movement, the Japanese American Citizens League, the American Indian movement, the beginning of the gay and lesbian rights movement and the environmental and consumer movements.
