Who is your hero?

Introduction


The book and movie 'The Freedom Writers' sends a very strong messege to people everywhere. The story of highschool students that live in Long Beach, California is very inspiring to everyone because these students learned to look past race and get to know one another for the person they are. These students are heroes because they were told that they cannot interact with anyone outside of their racial group, but they did and they made a real differe
nce. 

Task

In this webquest, you will learn about the Freedom Writers by answering questions. Also, you will think about how you can make a difference in your community. This will be done by writing a 2 paragraph essay. Finally, you will complete a wordsearch.

Lesson
1

  • Answer questions in a google doc. 
  • Find and research a person who is making a difference in their community, and answer these1) What does this person do in their community that creates a chain reaction of good deeds for others to follow? 

2) Does this person do good for the environment or for 

people living in their community? 

3) Does the Freedom Writers story relate to you in any way? Explain

Lesson 24) Have you ever judged someone based on thier looks and became friends with them?

  • Write a 2 paragraph essay about something that you have done that you feel has really made a difference. Give details!

Each of the 4 questions will be worth 2 points, for a total of 8 points. 

Lesson 2: Answer the assesment question in full detail and the essay is a full 2 paragraphs.
