'Sing' ELA To Me!

Introduction

Today, you will be bringing translating SONG LYRICS into ELA!

Task

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to choose a (CLEAN) song & break down the lyrics by identifying parts of speech or types of phrases we have been learning this year!

There will be a chart for you to fill in under each category. For instance, if there is a connotation box and you find a word that is being used in a connotative way, you will place that word & it's lyric part in the box. If there are none that fall under a category, you will put N/A in the box instead of the example.

If you cannot recall what a part of speech or type of phrase is, you can look back in your notes in our class binders or use an online source like flocabulary.com.

For an example, I'll use "I'm Like A Bird" by Nelly Furtado.

Point of view used in song  First Person - "I'm"
Adjective Beautiful - "You're beautiful, that's for sure"
Figurative Language Simile - "I'm like a bird, I only fly away"

The group to correctly break down their entire song will win a candy bag & get first choice on a board game after the test on Friday!
