Introduction
Welcome second grade astronauts! Let's get ready to take our trip to... OUTER SPACE!
Task
This week, I will divide each of you into groups of two. After getting paired with your partner, your group will be responsible for traveling to outer space to "discover" one planet that will also be assigned to you. Your mission is to learn all about your planet and present a poster about it to the class!
Have fun!
Process
Now that you are paired off with a partner and a planet, we are ready to blast off!
You have been given a worksheet with the questions you are required to answer.
Mercury: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/planets/mercury.html
Venus: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/planets/venus.html
Earth: http://www.planetsforkids.org/planet-earth.html
Mars: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/planets/mars.html
Jupiter: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/planets/jupiter.html
Saturn: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/planets/saturn.html
Uranus: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/planets/uranus.html
Neptune: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/planets/neptune.html
The website next to your planet holds all the information needed to answer the questions on your worksheets! Make a poster from the information on your worksheets and get ready to present it to your classmates!
**BONUS QUESTION: If your group can come up with a unique acronym for remembering the order of the planets you will get bonus points! Run your acronym by me before presenting!
Example: My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Noodles. (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.)
