Task

Before we go....I want you to take some time to learn a little bit more about Longwood Gardens and their vision on how to be stewards to the world around them.

Process

Please go on their website (www.longwoodgardens.org) and find five ways that Longwood Gardens lives their mission.  Their mission is as follows,  "Longwood Gardens is the living legacy of Pierre S. du Pont, inspiring people through excellence in garden design, horticulture, education, and the arts."

Conclusion

Now that you know a little bit more about Longwoood Gardens and their mission, you are set for our field trip on Friday, May 30th.  While there, we will be taking part in their Beyond Recycling and Natural Resources program to learn more about the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy, with focus on solar energy.  Students will explore both renewable and non-renewable resources, experiment with solar detectors, and discover the connection between photosynthesis and solar energy. They will uncover sustainable practices being used throughout Longwood's property and leave with a plan of action to become a better global citizen.
