Body Language

Introduction

It is something we have all experienced. You are giving a persuasive presentation, or pitching an idea to your boss and you are not sure how it is being taken. Are they loving you and what you are saying, or have you already lost them to the thoughts of where they are going for lunch?

In this WebQuest you and your team will be learning about different body language and facial ques that can be shown in all situations and compiling them into a journal. In obtaining this knowledge it is hoped that you will not only increase the amount of successful presentations and professional connections, but also increase the confidence of your firm.

Task

For users to understand and show proficency in indentifying nonverbal social cues in a professional setting such as a board meeting or job interview.

Process

Process 1

In this first section you and your team must identify ten different types of body language cues that can be given in a presentation based meeting. This should be done from not only the perspective of the presentation giver, but also the people who are listening to the presentation. This means you can do five emotions and their non-verbal cues for each perspective, but more is never a bad thing.

Once you identified these emotions and coinciding cues, find examples of this from around the internet. Place the image on a page and your notes under it.

Process 2

In this section, users must search the internet for scenes from movies that show emotions, with emphasis in nonverbal communication cues and label these correctly. The minimum is five scenes with at least three examples of nonverbal social cues in each.

This will be compiled into a poster that will be presented to the class.
