Introduction

CALLING ALL YOUNG FOODIES! 

Would you like to become the best Foodie in your class? Are you prepared to face a very bittersweet challenge? (and also, get ONE extra point in your term evaluation). If you've answered yes to the previous questions, then you and your team will be asked to complete 4 challenges and create a mini-desserts book to share with all your class.

Task

TASK 0: 

Complete the quiz about Typical British food to see how much you know about them. You should do this exercise individually.

Once you've completed, email your teacher the most interesting fact you found out during the quiz.

TASK 1: 

Download and print the worksheet, then complete the gaps. Once it's completed, choose 10 VERBS and on the back of it write a short definition in English.

TASK 2: 

Read this newspaper article about the top 10 British pudding recipes. And find the 3 true statements: 

  1. Treacle Tart pastry needs to be soften at room temperature for 1 or 2 hours.
  2. In the Sticky bananoffee cake with salted caramel you need to cook the caramel for 12 minutes. 
  3. Viennetta Parfait needs 300g of dark chocolate. 
  4. Pink blancmange needs gelatine. 
  5. Small pearl tapioca and milk don't need to be left overnight to soak. 
  6. To bake a Baked Alaska you need to pre-heat the oven to 350C. 
  7. Double lemon pudding has everything you want in a pudding.

In addition, check how the recipe is written and the order of the information. Are ingredients at the beginning of the recipe or at the end? What kind of Linking Words are used?

TASK 3: 

For this task is better if you pair up or make team with two other people. Have a look at this article on puddings, choose one each and write the recipe. 

At the end of the task you should have 2 or 3 recipes which you should hand your teacher and maybe cook for your family and friends!
