Introduction

ARE THERE REALLY CAREERS IN ART?!

This webquest is designed for students to venture into the world of employment.  The objective of this quest is to learn about careers and occupations that will utilize art skills.  Students will create a slide presentation as a group to combine their findings.

Task

You and your friends have been forced to look for employment. You need jobs and you are tired of working in the business world.  You want to be artists,  but you have never knew anyone that took art serious enough to make it a career.   If you do find a career that you like will that mean you will only be limited to drawing?  You want something that is fun, but you also want to make decent money.

Your task is to find information about twelve exisiting art occupations.  You will research the occupations and choose two occupations from the list that your group agrees on to present in a slide presentation to the class.  Career selection is based on first come first serve basis.  Groups will be allowed to choose the occupations once you have answered questions about the twelve occupation choices.  Your task is to present each occupation so well that your peers will want to work in the same occupation!  You need to convince them that one of your choice occupations is the best one out there!

Your group will present your findings to your classmates.  Your presentation needs to include at least 6 graphics related to the chosen careers as well as important information that you have researched.  On the day you present, you are expected to dress as if you were going to a job interview.  I encourage you to be as creative as possible.  Use background colors, create a theme, vary the size of your font, change the color of your font, and make your presentation engaging.
