Introduction
This WebQuest will explore 4 Childhood Communicable Diseases: Chicken Pox (Varicella), School Sores. Whooping Cough (Pertussis) and Head Lice (Pediculosis).
What is communicabe diseases?
Communicable diseases also known as infectious diseases or contagious diseases, they are spread from one person to another (Global Health.gov). The diseases are contracted through a variety of ways some of which include: breathing in airborne viruses, contact with blood or bodily fluids or contact with a bug (
Global Health.gov).
We as teachers are in the situation of being exposed to many communicable diseases, we need to be able to identify the symptoms of these to help prevent the spread the disease. We are looking at four of these diseases and how we can identify them, know what the symptoms are, how to prevent the spread and how we can educate parents about them.
Task
Everyone will be divided into four groups, each group will be assigned a communicable disease to research, you will create:
- Information sheet/poster (A3)
- Letter for parents
The information sheet it must contain:

- How to recognise the symptoms
- How to prevent the disease from spreading
- What the disease is

- Are there any treatment options, if so describe them
Letter for the parents must state:
