Cooking with Fractions

Introduction

Hi Students!

Now that we've learned about fractions, I want to celebrate and bake some cookies with you. Together we're going to learn about using fractions while cooking, and we're going to create a recipe for a larger portion of food. 

Task

Let's begin!

First you're going to watch a video.

Then we're going to practice converting some fractions using fraction strips.

We'll watch another video so that we can practice some more.

Finally, you'll practice using a worksheet.

Your final project will be to create a meal that feeds a larger number of people! You will work in groups and each choose two recpies to convert!

Evaluation

Please work in groups to modify two recipies. You will work on doubling them using the fraction strip link when necessary.

1. Print the original recipes

2. Write the modifications on a seperate page (using the examples as a guide)

5 points for printing the orginial

5 points for working well in a team

5 points for neatly writing up the modifications

5 points for an explaination of what you did!

Great job! Now you can help your parents make food and modify a recipe!
