This WebQuest will take you on a journey through the time period of Bud, Not Buddy. You have learned about the time period of The Great Depression through Bud's eyes, and now you will research the time period through a historical perpsective. You will continue making world-text connections throughout your research while thinking about how this new information affects your original inferences and visualizations.

Task

You will use this WebQuest to research the time period of The Great Depression. You will gather as much detailed information as you can, focusing on a topic of your interest. This will allow you to share your expertise with your literature circle. at the ned of class.

You will get into your literature circles and assign the following roles:

  • Discussion directior
  • Task manager
  • Summarizer
  • Connector

1. Discuss the topic each individual might choose to focus their research so that partners can join together or revisions can be made.

2. Take detailed notes in your Reading Journal paying close attention to dates, people, places, shocking info, world-text connections, and things to share with the class.

3. For the last 30 minutes of class you will share your findings with your group

Evaluation

Checklist of things you should have in your Reading Journal:

  • At least a page of detailed notes from your WeQuest research
  • At least a half-page of text-world connections to the book
  • At least a half-page of examples of how your research has affected your original inferences or visualizations
  • At least 2 compelling things to share with the class and why they were of particular interest to you.

Conclusion

This WebQuest should have helped you fill out the H portion of your KWHL chart as well as your timeline.

This research should have provided some answers to the K portion of your KWHL in chart inregars to what you would like to know.

As well as providing some answers, it should have provided you with more questions and things to continue thinking about.
