Finding Out About Pumpkins

Introduction

Good morning students,

Every year our Kindergarten class goes on a fieldtrip to the Avila Barn Pumpkin Patch.  Let's learn more about the pumpkins we are going to see.

Task

We are going to go on a webquest to investigate pumpkins. 

New vocabulary

investigate means to find out more about something.

Process

Here are many ways to find out more about pumpkins.  

1. How does a pumpkin start?  Lets look at a pumpkin seed.

2. How does a pumpkin go from a seed to a great big pumpkin we see?  Let's look at the process.

4.  Read or listen to the book "The 5 Little Pumpkins" with the class

5.  Color a picture of a pumpkin.

Identify the color of a pumpkin Student can point and say the word orange to identify the color of the pumpkin. Student can pont to the picture of orange and attempts to say the word orange.   Student can point to the color orange but can not say the word orange. Student is unable to say or point to the color orange.
Identify a pumpkin seed Student will be able to identify a pumpkin seed verbally or with communication device. Student will be able to point to pumpkin seed when asked but is unable to communicate. Student will be able to identify a pumpkin seed one out of five opportinuties. Student will be unable to identify a pumpkin seed.
Share pumpkin pictures Student is able to share information about the picture they colored of the pumpkin. Student willing to share their picture but not willing to communicate with classmates about picture. Student is unwilling to share their picture of the pumpkin. Student is unwilling to make a picture of a pumpkin.
Conclusion

Congradulations class!  You have completed your webquest and now know more about pumpkins!  We are ready to go on our fieldtrip.  Remember what we have learned and look for it at the pumpkin patch.
