Introduction
An adventure awaits those who are curious and want to explore.
An adventure awaits those who can't resist a good riddle.
An adventure awaits those who are creative and expressive.
If you are such an adventurer, come along on this WebQuest, and explore the Folktales of cultures throughout the world!

Task
"The tales inside the books will teach
Lessons to each who read with care.
Discover what is the same in each
Then create your own tale to share."
A challenge!
As partners, you must first determine the definition and the different elements that are found in a folktale by using a variety of resources. This information will be recorded on your Folktale Worksheet. Next, you will read at least three folktales from another country/culture (please DO NOT pick the United States). You will be asked to identify important elements from your stories, so pay attention when reading. Finally, you will present a PowerPoint or poster (at the end of class tomorrow) about the culture and folktales you have researched!

Process
Not sure what to do?
Step One: Determine the definition and the different elements that make up a folktale (you will write this on your worksheet).
Step Two: Select a country or culture, and read three folktales from that particular area. You might be suprised to see that you have heard some of these already.
Step Three: Analyze the folktales you read by comparing the events, characters, and the lessons found within your folktale to the information you already know about the different elements of a folktale.
Step Four: Decide with your partner how you would like to share the information. You will summarize each of your three folktales, give details about the culture/country from which they originated, and exaplin why each of your stories is considered a folk tale.
Step Five: You will share your PowerPoint or poster with the class at the end of the period tomorrow. Make sure to have all of the information you need!
