Georgia Authors WebQuest

Introduction

Today, you will begin a mini-research unit on Georgia Authors. Your job will be to investigate the lives of authors who are important to the state of Georgia, whether they were born here or lived part of their lives in the state. Either way, you will be discovering background information on how these authors had some impact on Georgia or rather the state's history.

You will receive a sheet to document information on your list of Georgia Authors. Your job is to make sure you can analyze a given website and determine if the information is good or if it is coming from a website much like Wikipedia where individuals can edit the webpage on a daily basis.

Task

1. Research a list of Georgia authors and create a chart identifying at least 15 authors and their texts.

2. Choose an author for more in depth research and to study as you complete your assignments.

3. Find out about the author's relationship with the state of Georgia, including which county they represent.

4. Write a letter of interest to the author.

5. Create a flyer announcing the author's visit to your school.

Process

1. Receive Georgia Authors Chart sheet.

2. Select 15 authors for your research and begin reviewing websites provided below.

These sites should be able to provide you with the necessary information you need in order to make your selection for the author you wish to reasearch more about so that you may write a letter of interest to that individual and create a flyer for presenting to others at South Central.
