Strand II: TIME, CONTINUITY, AND CHANGE
Social studies teachers should possess the knowledge, capabilities, and dispositions to organize and
provide instruction at the appropriate school level for the study of Time, Continuity, and Change.

Rationale

Histroy is the study of past events, people and places; it is a record of everything that has happened in the past. Many students do not understand the purpose of learning history. They do not realize how history affects them in the present. Students should know that history defines us and helps us connect to the past. Mistakes can be avoided by studying history. Timelines are a great way to help students learn and understand history. They help put information into chrnological order that is easier to understand. Timelines can also help students compare and contrast historical events.
