Integers Webquest

Introduction

What exactly is an integer? Integers are found everywhere in the world! Whether you are recording the temperature outside, depositing or withdrawing money from the bank, or tracking yards gained or lost in football, integers will be used. At the end of this webquest, you will be able to:

  • tell what positive and negative numbers are, how they are used, and why they are important
  • tell why absolute value is important
  • tell how graphing on the coordinate plane is helpful
  • tell how to place positive and negative rational numbers on the number 
  • tell what opposites are and how they are shown on a number line
  • tell how coordinates are used to find the distances between points

Task

1. During this webquest, you will complete several tasks. Be sure to complete the tasks in order and follow all directions. Record your answers on the integer webquest packet or in your notebook. All answers to the questions must be written in complete sentences using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and legible handwriting.

 Task 1: Integer Vocabulary

Write down the vocabulary words below. (Leave 3-4 blank lines between each word). Click Task 1: Integer Vocabulary above. Then click on TIP Unit 7 to define the following vocabulary:

Pick up the Integer Packet from the teacher. Use a blue colored pencil to represent colder temperatures and use a red colored pencil to represent warmer temperatures. Complete the task from the packet.
