Introduction
The human body is the most wonderful, complex machine in the world! The human body is cabale of doing things other living beings cannot.
Here are some of the most crucial systems in the body:
The nervous system: the brain , spinal cord, and millions of nerve cells in the body make up the nervous system
The circulatory system: The circulatory system is made up of your heart, arteries, veins, and very thin blood vessels called capillaries.
The digestive system: the mouth, esophagus, stomach, large and small intestines and other organs make up the digestive system .
The respiratory system: Oxygen enters your body through the nose or mouth, moves down the windpipe and into the lungs. The lungs are the most important part of your respiratory system
Task
The the Smithsonian Museum has selected you to be a part of an elite team of doctors. You are one of five doctors that will create an exhibit of the nervous system, the circulatory system, the digestive system, and the respiratory system. Your task is to inform the public of the role of the organs within each system and the importance of each system to the function of a healthy human body. Try to inform the public the best you can, remember, you are a doctor!
Nervous System:
- What are the sense organs? What function do they serve?
- What is the difference between sensory nerves and motor nerves?
- What is the function of the brain, nerves, and spinal cord?
- What is the difference between the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system?
- Draw and label the organs of the nervous systems.

Circulatory System:
- What is the function of the heart, the lungs, and blood vessels in the circulatory system?
- Draw a diagram of a heart and label all parts showing how blood circulates through the chambers, lungs, and body.
- Describe the differences between red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, and platelets.

Digestive System:
- What are the functions of the following organs in the digestive process: the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and rectum?
- Describe the process that occurs within the digestive system when you eat and apple.
- Draw a diagram showing the organs of the digestive system.

Respiratory System:
- What is the primary function of the respiratory system?
- What is the function of the trachea, lungs, and diaphragm in respiration?
- How does the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occur in the lungs and tissues?
- Draw and label the organs of the respiratory system.
Process
You need to research each system and complete the following:
- Answer all the above questions in your health journal
- Record important facts and make diagrams or drawings of the systems
- Put together your final presentation. Presentations may include the following: oral report with posters, displays, art, games, power point presentations, songs, stories, multimedia projects, etc.
- Finally, present your project to the class
Evaluation
You will receive a test grade for the completion of this webquest in your Health Journal.
You will also be graded according to your final product.
- Is your work neat?
- Are your posters well done and readable?
- Have you been creative in your presentation?
- Do you have accurate information?
Conclusion
Congratrulations Doctor! You put together an excellent exhibit for our museum. You have explored and learned about some systems and the organs of your body. You have shown what you have learned by making models, charts, posters, drawing, etc. Our viewers are going to love your presentation!
