Introduction
Fractions are mathematical concepts which we use in our everyday life. For example, when baking/cooking you may need to adjust the recipe to a different amount of servings. Knowing how to add and subtraction fractions will be useful if you need to make a one person recipe enough for the entire family or vice versa. Before we begin, we need to go over the rules of adding and subtracting fractions.

Task
We are going to learn and practice using fractions from a number of resources. You will be given a handout of multiple apps you are going to use to help with the learning and the comprehension process of fractions.
Throughout this journey you will meet the following objectives:
Students will be able to identify the numerator and denominator of a fraction.
Students will be able to add/subtract fractions with same denominators and different denominators.
Students will be able to find the least common denominator.
You will find a recipe for a pie. It will be your responsibility to make enough pies for each students in the classroom to receive one eighth of a pie. You will turn in one personal recipe for your pie with directions for making a single pie. You will then need to create an ingredient list to ensure that you are able to create the given number of pies needed.

Process
Visit, review, navigate and use the following apps.
Now that you understand how to use fractions, find a recipe for your favorite pie. A few resources for recipes are: allrecipes.com, Pinterest, tasteofhome.com, etc. Once, you find your recipe, get a recipe card from your teacher and write your recipe on the card. You will then need to create a ingredient list for the number of pies you will need.

Evaluation
3 points
Students turned in recipe card and ingredient list with the appropriate ingredient list taking into account the amount of ingredients required. The students always stayed on task while on the computers/iPads and followed all directions.
2 points
Students turned in recipe card and ingredient list with most of the appropriate ingredients listed taking into account the amount of ingredients required. The students usually stayed on task while on the computers/iPads.
1 point
Students turned in recipe card and ingredient list. But did not have all the appropriate ingredients listed taking into account the amount of ingredients required. The recipe card is not complete, not correct, or was not handed in on the due date.
