Computer Project: Self-Discover and Career Webquest

HOW TO PRINT SCREEN:

• When you have the screen visible the way you want it to be on your powerpoint, hit the control (Ctrl) button at the same time as you hit the Print Screen button (most are on the top row to the right on your keyboard. Ask me if you can't find it!)
• Next, you will open up your Microsoft Document and hit Ctrl and the V key at the same time.
• This will paste the print screen onto your document.

HOT TO GET YOUR PRINT SCREEN TO YOUR POWERPOINT:

• Right click on the picture that you pasted into your document.
• Click on "save as picture."
• Save it to your desktop as the title of the list or results of the test.
• Next, just insert the picture onto the appropriate slide on your powerpoint.
• If you forgot how to do this, just ask me. :)

Part 1:

2. On a Microsoft document, write a 5 sentence summary of the video.

Part 2:

1. What you need to do to complete this task is to assess your personality.
2. Click on the link to go through a list of personality traits. http://www.tgmag.ca/byws/iam.htm
3. You will choose your top 10 personality traits.
4. Go through the list carefully.
5. Pick the traits that suit you best.
6. After you have chosen 10 traits, click "submit" at the bottom of the page. 
7. Print Screen the top ten list onto your document

Part 3:

1. Click on the following link: http://www.wordle.net/
2. Click on "Create Your Own"  
3. Copy your list of traits and descriptions from your personality assessment and paste the text into the Wordle document.
4. Click "Go."
5. The site will bring up the Wordle created by your personality characteristics.
6. You can change the design, text, and color by using the tabs provided above the Wordle. (Note: If you capitalize the letters of the specific personality traits they will show up larger in your Wordle)
7. When you are ready to save, call me over and I’ll help.

Part 4:

1. Next, you will need to follow the link into Career Cruising. https://www2.careercruising.com/main
2. Log-in using the following information:

Username: pbhs

Password: careers

Section 1:

1. Click on the "Explore My Interests" link.
2. Here you are going to have to create your own login. For the email address, just use rlewis@potentiaacademy.org if you cannot remember your own.
3. Write down your username and password on your Microsoft document in case you forget.
4. Click on Matchmaker and My Skills link.
5. Enter your name and complete the 40 questions on your likes and dislikes.
6. Make sure you do this individually and answer questions based on what YOU like and dislike.
7. When you have completed the 40 questions, results will pop up revealing careers that would suit your likes best.
8. Beside the "Interest Rank" list is a link that says "Improve Results"
9. You will click on this link and complete 60 more questions on your likes and dislikes.
10. This will give you specific career choices that pertain to what you like.
11. Print Screen results and copy them onto your document.
12. Please call me over to confirm that you have completed the 100 questions from the quiz. 

Section 2:

1. Go back to the first page (click on the original link for this section)
2. Click again on "Explore my Interests"
3. Click on Learning Styles Inventory Link
4. Complete activity
5. Print Screen results into your document 

Part 5:

1. Follow the link below to take a Myers Briggs Personality test: http://kisa.ca/personality/
2. Once you have clicked on the link select one of the 3 statements that you most agree with for each group. 
3. While taking the exam do not over think, move through them quickly using your first instinct.
4. After completing all questions click on the "get my personality test results button".
5. Print Screen the results and copy to your document.

Part 6:

1. In this step you will be taking a Career Life test that will help you learn what type of jobs will best fit with your strengths and skills.  
2. To begin click on the take test link: http://www.livecareer.com/default.asp?lp=st03&cobrand=CLEAR#
3. Fill in the information fields. Use an e-mail address and password that you remember later all other information can be entered at your discretion. 
4. Once the test is complete look through the results to help determine your Ideal Job.

 Part 7: PowerPoint/Prezi and Grading Rubric - Your PowerPoint will be graded on:

• Correct content of each slide
• Capitalization
• Punctuation
• Spelling
• Related graphics

Slide 1:

• Title: What will I be when I grow up? (3 points)
• Name (1 point)
• Date (1 point)

Slide 2:

• Title: All about Me! (3 points)
• Insert Wordle (1 point)
• Write a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) on how you feel about the personality trait results (5 points)
• Appropriate graphic that relates to this slide (1 point)

Slide 3:

• Title: Career Matchmaker (3 points)
• Insert results from career matchmaker (1 point)
• Write a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) on how you feel about the results from matchmaker (5 points)
• Appropriate graphic that relates to this slide (1 point)

Slide 4:

• Title: Myers Briggs Personality Test (3 points)
• Paste results from the test (1 point)
• Write a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) on how you feel about the results from the Myers Briggs Personality Test (5 points)
• Appropriate graphic that relates to this slide (1 point)

Slide 5:

• Title: Matchmaker and My Skills (3 points)
• Paste Matchmaker and My Skills results (1 point)
