Welcome!

Have you noticed that not all rocks look the same? Have you ever thought about what makes them look differently? Did you know that there are different types of rocks?

In this webquest, we will examine this question by using multiple resources to read about the three classifications of rocks, how to identify each, how they are formed, and interesting facts that you read to become experts on this topic.

Task

Our task today will be to learn about the three types of rocks.

Some questions to think about are:

  2. How can you identify the three types of rocks?
  3. How are each rocks formed?
  4. Find a fun fact about each type of rock?

After you complete the webquest, you will create a drawing, poem, or comic strip about the three types of rocks including the names, an identifying feature, and a fun fact.

Process

Step 1: Visit the two websites listed and read the information listed about the three types of rocks. Look for information about the names, how to idenify the three, how they are formed, and a cool or interesting fact that you learned.

Step 2: While reading, try to answer the following questions. Be sure to use both websites listed above when finding your answers.
