Introduction

Our class just won the grand prize in the state drawing contest. Each student is awarded $100 to spend how they choose to. Individually, you will be using the 5 links provided to shop online for materials that could be used in the classroom, at home, or in everyday use. This is totally up to you, spend your money wisely and have fun!

                                                        

Task

You are given the day off, to go shopping! You will have $100 to spend as you like. You will be responsible for keeping your track of how much money you have to spend, keeping records of how much your've spent and how much is left. You will need to keep all this information in your journal. You must purchase an item from each of the store locations, which is each website. At the end of the shopping day you must have at least $1 left over.

 

                                                                                                

Process

1. You will be given $100 to purchase as many items as you would like.

2. Purchases can be school-related or personal choice.

3. You must purchase at least 1 items from each website below.

While you are purchasing your items:

    1. Make a list of items purchased.

    2. Where it was purched from.

    3. Rounded price of each purchase.

    4. Calculate total amount of money spent after each purchase.

    5. Calculate total amount of money left to spend.

                                                      

After purchasing your items:

  1.     Calculate your total money spend.
  2.     You must have at least $1 left over after all purchases.
  3.     Create a chart of all your expenses.
  4.     You will share with the class how much money you spent, what your purchased, and your reason for purchasing these items.

Conclusion

After completing this webquest did it make you realize the value of a dollar? Did it make you think of all the money your parents spend daily on necessary items? With your purchases, you were able to pick and choose what you wanted personally, to where as your parents pick and choose what is necessary for the needs of the family. Did you spend the $100 quickly? Did you buy items that were cheaper so you could buy more items? Or did you buy less items but of higher value? Did this webquest make you realize that when dealing with money, everyone should make responsible choices?
