Introduction
Starting after the Civil War and in almost all industrialized countries, the life stage of adolescents exists. Although they suffer through all the same issues that adults do, these adolescents often times react differently to these issues.
Through your study, you are going to examine the 4 most important issues that face adolescents today.
Task
You have been tasked to create an awareness campaign on one of the issues facing adolescents today. You need to raise awareness of the issue and the harmful effects each has on young peoples' lives. This campaign will be done in either a short video product or a poster.
During your presentation to the class you will want to make sure that you are able to encourage and sway us to your point of view about your topic. Please make yourself very familiar with the grading rubric prior to your presentation.
Process
Step 1: Read through the following articles and fill in the graphic organizer you were given in class.
- The Myth of Rampant Teenage Promiscuity: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/27/health/27well.html?_r=0

Step 3: Choose your issue and plan your product: video presentation (stand alone); Video presentation with commentary; Powerpoint with commentary; Poster with commentary
Step 4: Read over your notes from the graphic organizer to see which pieces of evidence should be used in your presentation. Feel free to do more research on your particular issue to fill in the blanks.
Step 5: Product Requirements.
- Video presentation (stand alone) - should be no more than 2 minutes long. It should be a good "sell"
- Video presentation with commentary - This should be no more than 2 minutes long. You will have a video playing in the back ground as you talk over it.
- Powerpoint with commentary - should be no more than 2 minutes long with a minimum of 5 slides. Slides should be on an automatic timer to sync with your commentary
- Poster - Should be able to stand alone however you will present the finer points of your poster/issue.
Step 6: Self-Assessment: Using the appropriate rubric, self grade your product.
