Storms Webquest

Introduction

Introduction

What do you always think about before getting dressed to go outside?...The weather!!  The weather helps us decide what cloths we put on in the morning.  The weather effects many of our activities everyday.  For example, if it is raining we have recess indoors, but if it is sunny we go outside for recess.  If there is a snow storm we don't have to come to school because we get a snow day.  Storms are extreme weather conditions that are very dangerous.  Today you will be researching different types of storms in groups.  You will be looking for how they form, what areas they are most common in, what type of damage they can do, and most importantly, what do storms look like.  Once you finish you research you will create a project based on your selected storm.

Gathered Information

Students did not use their resources to their advantage and had little to no facts gathered.

Students had some facts but did not have enough to effectively answer all of the tasks.

Students had a broad amount of facts and were able to use them to answer the task requests.

Project

Very short and not a lot of effort was put into creating it.

Has photos and facts but not enough of either.

Has many photos as well as facts to support each.

Group Collaboration

Students worked independently and did not collaborate well with their groups.

The students worked together but did not use their peers ideas to their complete advantage.

The students bounced ideas off of each other and incorporated this into their project.

Conclusion

Conclusion

As students complete this webquest they should have a greater understanding of weather and storms.  Students should have gathered data that is based on the 5th grade science curriculum.
