Video Option

Introduction

Congratulations, you have chosen ...

the video option!!

For this option, you must:

1. Choose a gender stereotype (e.g. women like to keep things clean, only boys like to play with trucks). This could be something that we looked at in class, or something that your group is interested in working on.

2. Create a short (2-3 minute) advertisement that challenges this stereotype (e.g. an ad for trucks that is targeted at girls)

3. Present your video to the class. Explain your chosen stereotype, and how you decided to challenge it.

Hints:

Find ads on YouTube that use your chosen stereotype to sell a product and see what sort of words and images they use.

Watch the below video about gender roles in advertisements to help get you thinking:

Take a look at this article on gender stereotype destroying ads:

Non-digital option: If for whatever reason your group cannot access the technology to film and edit your ad, you may hand in a storyboard for your ad and present it to the class.
