Where would you like to travel?

Introduction

This webquest  is created for 8th grade students who will have to  look for different countries in terms of whatever they like or not .

We are going  to plan  an interesting  travel abroad for you and your classmates at the end of the year where you have to search and pick up  from different countries around the world  different ways of lives , custom , popular society groups, the main attraction of the cities .Also you have to investigate which places are more tourist in the world. As you well- know travelling aboard is a great oportunity where every person could get an amazing experience , so try to imagine that you are there but  you are going to live this through  the web and your special and great imagination. So be prepare for it!

Each group will consist of three student and need to select a country of assigned continent, then begin to do research. By following the instructions, you will get to know the continent and the country, gather travelling tips, manage all the information and eventually present to the rest of the class in a creative way.

Step1: Get to know the continent and the country!

As each group is assigned to do research on a continent, the first task is get to know about the continent. Please find information from the internet and complete the following task.

 

  1. Find the basic information about the the continent, and write a short introduction about the continent using Word. 
  2. Discuss with the group and choose a country from the continent to continue the next step. (Which country you would like to visit the most? Which culture you want to know more about?)

 

Step 2:Get to know the country!

1.Use internet and book in library to find answer for these questions.

  • Where is the country on the world map? 
  • What's the capital city?
  • What is the official language(s) in the country?
  • Can you find their national flag?
  • How's the climate there? 
  • How should you wear if you are visiting the country now.
  • If you are changing the money, what is the currency?
  • Which landmarks can you see in the country?
  • Are there any cultural events? If they do, find more information about it.

2. Choose 6 questions from the above  list, think of 4 questions that is related to the travelling preparation. Answer them, and hand in with a reference list.

Step 3: Presentation!


 

This is the final step, and you will be presenting your research on a poster about the country and the travel plan. There is not specific format you need to follow, so BE CREATIVE!! Share with the class what you found, what you learned, where do you like to go, and any other fun facts of the country or travel tips. You can even teach us a few sentences of the language they use.

The world is wide and full of surprise for us to explore.

Each group has learned about the continent and the countries part of that.  Hopefully the research you have done has helped you explore and understand the selected countries in more depth.  So, which country would you visit if you have the opportunity?

Teacher Introduction

The Webquest is based on the continents. Students will learn about the different countries within each continent.

Geography is a subject where teachers are able to incorporate creativity and allow students to explore. The project established was designed to create an enjoyable and interactive way for students to learn about the 7 continents and the different countries found in the continent chosen. It allows for students to explore various travel destinations, cultural background, languages, foods and historical places to be visited.


Each group will gather information on their chosen countries amd create a travel brochure followed up with a poster and than presented to the class; thus, encouraging active leanring by incorporating hands-on activities.
