Task

In your groups, you will develop the skills to identify and avoid plagiarism through multiple competitions. The winning groups of these competitions will gain clues which will help them in the final competition - a scavenger hunt. The winner of the scavenger hunt will receive (insert prize). In order to win, the groups will have to work together to master the skills of proper citation. 

Process
  1. In your groups, you will discuss the following vocabulary words and fill in the Know and Want to Know table sections. Leave the "Learned" section blank. The first group to get an approval signature on their paper from Mrs. Appling, Mrs. Malone or Mrs. Fitzpatrick will receive a Freebie Card to use in the final project.

 

Vocabulary Words

 

  1. Use the internet and/or paper resources to read online about each word. In the “Learned” section, write how each word could affect you when doing a project or paper. The first group to complete this project will receive a Freebie Card

  2. MLA formatting - in your groups you will be given a series of sources to put into MLA formatting. You will be given a handout to act as a template. The first group to get approval from Mrs. Appling, Mrs. Malone, or Mrs. Fitzpatrick will receive a Freebie Card

  3. Each group will use one device to participate in a Kahoot Quiz Challenge based on the information you should have learned up until now. The winner will receive a Freebie Card to use during the final project.

  4. Final project - You will be given a series of "Original Thoughts" that have been stolen from their author's. You are responsible for using the internet to discover the original author and submit that information in MLA format as a bibliography. The first group will receive the Grand Prize.

Evaluation

Each students will provide a peer-evaluation for each of their group members using the table below. At the end of each task, students will submit the evaluations to Mrs. Appling, Mrs. Malone, or Mrs. Fitzpatrick.
