Introduction

Welcome to The Yellowstone National Park Webquest!

Yellowstone was the World's First National Park. It has one of the largest petrified forests (a forest with trees whose wood has fossil remains) and more than 300 geysers (hot springs with boiling water that comes out of the ground)! As you complete this Webquest you will learn the following:

  • History and Formation of Yellowstone National Park
  • Weather and Geographic Location
  • Habitats and Niches of Yellowstone National Park.
  • Geysers
  • Wildlife Managment 
  • Future of Yellowstone 

You are now offically a junior park ranger! You will be guided through a series of interactive activities to explore the park. Your final assessment will be an online travel brochure.

FORMAL EVALUATION:

_ Student turns in a science journal  that is legible with notes on each of the sections.

   _ Science journals contain pertinate science vocabulary ( a minimum of 5, well-defined and   cited vocabulary words per section. *NOTE: There are 6 sections so you should have a           minimum of 30 vocabulary words.*

_ Students selected one of the provided digital travel brochure media listed above or created their own (students who wish to use a different travel brochure option must connect with the teacher at least one week before the brochure is due). 

_ Students complete a digital, creative, user-friendly travel brochure that contains the following elements:

    _ History and Formation of Yellowstone

    _Weather and Geography

    _ Habitats and Niches

    _ Geysers and their Formation

    _ Wildlife Management 

    _ The Future of Yellowstone
