Introduction
You will be completing a variety of tasks based on your knowledge of our novel so far. You can use your chapter summary notes, your book, or any of the work within your detective case files.
Task
Task One: Who Am I? (With partner/s).
Task Two: Create a timeline based on the events that have occurred in the novel so far (Individual).
Task Three: Create a board game for The Westing Game (3 groups of 3).

Process
Task One: Who Am I?
- Select 5 characters from our novel and create clue cards for them. In order to do this, you need to write down 3-5 character traits that you have learned about your character so far.
- You will then need to pair up with a partner and have them guess who your characters are based on your clues. This is our version of Clue.
- Remember, you want to trick your partners, so make your clues creative and complex.
- The person with the most correct answers wins!
- Materials will be provided for you. You will be given (Character cards).
Task Two: Timeline
- It is now time to create your timeline.
- These events should include important events, important settings from the story, and important character reactions.
- You need at least 10 events in your timeline for it to be considered complete.
- You must cite the text. This means that you need to include page numbers for each event you add to your timeline.
- Materials will be provided for you. You will be given a timeline worksheet.
Task Three: Board Game
- It is now time to put everything you have done together.
- You must use your character clue cards, and your timeline to help you create a board game.
- Your board game should include important settings from the novel, important character traits, and important plot twists (events).
- You must use information from the text. This is where your previous tasks come in handy.
- Include page numbers on your board game. (You have already cited your information in your previous tasks, so make sure to continue this process on the board game).
- You must create a list of instructions on how to play the game, and decide how a player wins the game.
- Materials will be provided for you. You will be given a board, index cards, markers, game pieces, dice, and construction paper.
- We are reading, The Westing Game, now it is your turn to create your own!
Evaluation
You will be evaluated on your board game. Your board game is a combination of all your tasks and your knowledge of the novel so far. You will be given a rubric for the board game in class. Refer back to the rubric to ensure that you included everything you needed to in your board game.
