Missouri Regions

Introduction

Congratulations!  You have been selected to a very important position in the state of Missouri.  The citizens of Missouri have voted for YOU as the new Missouri governor.

As governor, your first task is very important.  You have decided that future Missouri citizens should have something to look at that will tell them something about the regions of Missouri.  A guide would be perfect!

As governor, you have the honor of choosing the artifacts that best represent one of the four regions of Missouri.  The citizens of Missouri are confident that you will do a great job.  Congratulations again, and good luck!

Task

The guide you will create will contain artifacts that represent one of the four regions of Missouri.

It is important to know what the citizens of Missouri expect of you.  Each guide should include the following student-made items:

One job per person at your table...

  • A map to list cities, rivers and special landmarks for your region. (Map)

  • A graphic organizer that includes information on geography. (Geography paper)

  • A landmark information sheet. (Landmark paper)

  • A product and resources information sheet. (Product/Resources paper)

As you complete each item to be placed in your guide, you should choose things that best represent the region.  Once all of your items are complete, you will put together your guide for the state's print shop.

Process

Your table will research one of these four regions:

  • Glaciated Till Plain
  • Osage Plains
  • Ozark Highlands
  • Southeast Lowlands

It’s time to start creating your time capsule! Start researching!
