Introduction

Ms. Hughes' class is learning how to create informative texts in english while also learning how in science the water cycle is formed. 

 

The standard we are working from is C.4.2

 

Today's learning target is: I can compose an informative writing about the water cycle. 

Task

By the end of this lesson I will be able to compose an informative writing about the water cycle. 

First the students will watch a video on the water cycle, then they will write a sentence on each stage of the cycle to form a paragraph. 

The stages of the water cycle are:

1. Evaporation

2. Condensation

3. Precipitation 

4. Collection

When you are done write a sentence on each stage of the cycle to form a complete paragraph.

The student does not have any formal facts in their paragraph about the water cycle.  

1-2 points

The students has 1-2 facts about the water cycle in their paragraph

2-3 points

The students has 4 complete sentences with accurate facts about the water cycle.

The student has little to no punctuation and sentence structure in their paragraph. 

                    1-2 points

The student has half of their paragraph with punctuation and sentence structure.

                     2-3 points

The student has all 4 sentences with punctuation and sentence structure. 
Overall Comprehension

The student does not portray knowledge of the topic being discussed. 

                    1-2 points

The student only portrays knowledge of the topic in half of their paragraph. 

                    2-3 points

The student portrays complete knowledge of the topic in all four sentences. 

 

 

Conclusion

In today's lesson, you learned about the water cycle from two videos, and then wrote a 4 sentence paragraph with complete sentences.

Now, you have learned the 4 stages of the water cycle and are able to compose an informative writing about the water cycle!
