Introduction
Sophia is a 10-year-old girl who is in fifth grade at Prairie Hills Elementary School in DeWitt, Iowa. Sophia has a mom, a dad, and 2 sisters. Jane, Sophia's mother, is a teacher at the local high school. John, Sophia's father, is a salesman at John Deere. Ashley and Courtney are Sophia's twin sisters and they are freshman in high school. Sophia's father just found out that his job is being transferred to Atlanta, Georgia.
Process
Sophia's parents want to find a town to move their family to. DeWitt is a small community, and they would like to find a small community to live in when they move to Georgia and John can commute to Atlanta. Using Google Maps, find towns that are close to Atlanta, Georgia.
Pick three different towns that are close to Atlanta, Georgia. Using the United States Census Bureau website, find the populations of the three towns and see if there is an elemetnary school and high school close by.
Using the Explore Georgia website, research activities the family can participate in together. Sophia took many dance classes in Dewitt, Ashley participated in traveling basketball teams and Courtney was on a swimming team at the high school. Sophia's parents do not want their children to give up their favorite activities, reasearch if there are opportunities for dance, basketball and swimming.
