Task
The authors' purpose these selections was to teach a lesson about culture and belonging. Like in MY Favorite Chaperone it taught lessons about immigrants. Maya and her family were from Russia and they had to learn how to adjust to another culture and they had to learn another language. The purpose for The Powwow at the End of the World was to use sarcasm to portray the impact of WW2 before and after.
Process
In My Favorite Chaperone they connect the topic culture and belonging by creating a story about an immigrant family from Russia trying to make it in America. In The Powwow at the End of the World the author connects the theme culture and belonging by showing how it was hard for the Natives to make it in preparation for WW2.
Evaluation
There's a lot of figurative language in this selection like the color rose in mama's face like a flame turned up on the stove at she spun toward me, her eyes flashing. which indicates mama's anger toward Maya.
There also many figurative language in Powwow like i am told by many of you that i must forgive and i shall. this is sarcasm because he it told he must forgive but how can he when the Europeans did something this bad for them to be able to forgive.
