Aquatic Biomes

Introduction

The purpose of this WebQuest is to familiarize people on the locations, climate, biota, and relative productivity of all of the aquatic biomes. The aquatic biomes include: Streams, Rivers, Ponds/Freshwater Lakes (Salt lakes are rare) , Wetland (swamp, marsh, bog), Open Ocean, Salt Marsh/ Estuary, and the Coral Reef.

Task

The assignment is to describe one biome on its location/ distribution (global location/ latitude), the biota within the biome (plants/animals), climate (temperature/ precipitation), and it's relative productivity. 

Make sure to include a picture and list at least three biota that resides in that biome! 

Example: 

Tropical Rainforest

Location: Equator

Biota: Broadleaf trees, ferns, vines, flowers, primates, cats, snakes, birds, and insects

Climate: Hot/wet

Relative Productivity: Very high

Process

2. Take notes and create flashcards with key characteristics of each biome

3. Using the flashcards create a google document and add pictures and descriptions of one biome of your choosing.

Conclusion

The purpose of the assignments were to further the understanding of the key characteristics of aquatic biomes. 

Make sure to understand the meaning of relative productivity and what factors contribute to it.
