Australia - Through the eyes of a teenager

Congratulations!

You have been accepted by the Australian Tourism board to create your own youtube video.

This is an opportunity to promote Australia to French students.

You will work in groups of 3 to research, write, produce, interview, role play, direct and film a 3-5 minute video for the tourism board.

Working as an official member of the tourism team, you have a responsibility to know the background information and facts about your topic. It's also important to have a good understanding of who your target audience is and what will appeal to them. 

Your tasks are:

1 - Who is your target audience - school leavers on a gap year, students wanting to study abroad, students seeking work after school

2 - Explore the possibilities, the regions, what would interest your target audience 

3 - Think about questions that your audience may want answered during the clip - include a quick interview with someone wanting to go to Australia 

4 - Remember you are promoting Australia, research interesting topics which will push your agenda

5 - Your opinion counts - share it! 

The Australian Tourism board believes it is important to use the latest technology as a medium to engage the younger generation - it hopes to use your video to promote Australia in a positive way.

Please follow the below steps in order to create an outstanding video!

Step One: Decide who your target audience is (group exercise)

Step Two: Brainstorm what may appeal to your audience (group exercise)

Step Three: Use the internet to research - remember you are working for an official company & they will expect facts (individual exercise)

Step Four: Based on your research brainstorm a plan for your video - how will you keep your audience interested? (group exercise)

Step Five: Decide on what role you will each play in the video (group exercise)

Step six: Write a script for the video (group exercise)

Step seven: Rehearse your script - make sure you add your own personal take on the script so the audience is kept interested and you are not just reading the script (group exercise)

Step eight: Film and/or present your video to the class
