Welcome travellers!  You are about to set off on an exciting journey to a foreign country.  You will gather information and create a Power Point presentation for your country.

Task

Your Task

  1. Students will select and research a country from the following list:
  • Indonesia
  • Papua New Guinea
  • Timor Leste
  • New Zealand
  • Solomon Islands
  • Fiji
  • New Caledonia

 

2. Students will compile the information into a Power Point presentation.

Part 1: Use Google Maps to help you label the Map of Australia and its neighbouring countries.

 

Part 2: Choose a country

You will need to choose a country from the list:

  • Indonesia
  • Papua New Guinea
  • Timor Leste
  • New Zealand
  • Solomon Islands
  • Fiji
  • New Caledonia

Once you have made a decision, let your teacher know your country.

 

Part 2: Organize your research into a Word document or direct to PowerPoint

You will be asked to research (but are not limited to) the following categories:

  • Flag
  • Floral or Animal Emblem
  • Total Area
  • Capital city
  • Population
  • Other major cities
  • Physical features, eg major mountains, rivers, forests
  • Government (e.g. democracy, monarchy, dictatorship), Currency (e.g. yen, dollar) and Languages spoken
  • Climate - type of climate (eg Mediterranean, tropical), average rainfall and termperature data
  • Major industries
  • Customs, e.g. special holidays celebrated

 

Part 3: Gather Information

 You should have a minimum of  3 under each category.  Use some of the reliable resources below to gather information. 

 

Part 4: Compile and organize information

Organize the data you have collected.  You will have a minimum of eight pages in your Power Point.  The pages are as follows:

  1. Cover Page – Catchy title, graphic, name, date, and project description 
  2. Flag, Floral and Animal emblems
  3. Geographical Statistics - population, total land area, capital city and other major cities.
  4. Government, Currency and Languages spoken 
  5. Climate
  6. Major industries
  7. Customs
  8.  Any other interesting facts

Part 5: Edit and finalise your Country Power Point

  • Check you have incldued all pages required.
  • Edit your spelling and punctuation
