Basic Music Notes

Introduction

Today the students will learn how to identify the difference between a whole note (a note the length of 4 beats), half note (a note the length of 2 beats), a quarter note (a note the length of 1 beat). The will participate in a quiz and matching activity on their computer. First, the students need to find the website by clicking on the link. Then, the student will follow the instructions of the activity and complete it. 

Task

Student must be able to identify the difference between whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes. 

Process

Students will be presented a note. There will be three different answer choices. A whole note, a half note, and a quarter note. The student will be expected to select the right answer choice that matches the question. 

Evaluation

  • Students understand how to get to the website
  • Students successfully navigated the website 
  • Students completed activity multiple times until they were able to answer all questions correctly 
  • Students now know what the difference between a whole note, half note, and quarter note is.
