Battle of the theories!

Introduction

In this webquest you will learn the difference between Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism, and Social Cognitive Theory. You will be put into a group of 3 people. Each person will pretend that they are a psychologist that believes strongly in one of these theories.

Task

Students will be in groups of 3. Each student will be assigned a theory (Social Cognitive, Cognitive Psychology, and Behaviorism) that they will need to prove is better through debate.

Process

First we will begin by researching what these theories are together as a group.

Watch the videos below.

Behaviorism:

Once you have learned the basic concept of each theory as a group, each one of you will venture out to do further research about your particular theory. This will help you gain information to better debate your topic. Below is a list of websites to visit per topic.

Using this information, you will write a short speech describing why your theory is the best. You will also come up with 3 bits of information discrediting your theory and come up with answers to fire back. This will help you in your debate skills.
