There are many different types of business that sells goods and provide services to the public. These businesses ranges in size from a small spaza shop to very big manufacturing businesses. Some businesses are owned and operated by one person or single family, others are owned and managed by two or more people and some are owned and managed by the government. Each business ownership has its own special characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. The success of any business may depend on choosing the correct form of business ownership. There are various factors one has to take account before starting a business. These factors are

•Who manages the business

•Who contributes to the capital

•Does the business has continuity

•Who does the business have limited or unlimited liability.

•Who gets the profits or how is profits divided.

Todays lesson would only focus on the first two forms of ownership which is a sole trader and a partnership.

The task given would take 3 days to complete. The task would account for 20% of your end of year mark. The task is given on the 11 September 2022 and is due on the 14 September 2022. You are encouraged to work on your assignment after school in your personal time as well during all business period

Read the following scenario and follow the instructions indicated below:

 

Many South Africans struggle on finding an appropriate form of ownership they would love to start a business in. Many South Africans aren’t familiar with what the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of a sole trader and partners are. Jamie an young entrepreneur who would like to start her business however she needs advise on whether she should open a business as a sole trader or partnership. Jamie lacks capital and equipment. She is the only one working in her household.

 

 

Write a detailed report where you advice Jamie on which form of ownership she should open her business. Your report must have an introduction, body, and conclusion. Follow the rubric to make sure that you meet all the requirements needed to achieve the best mark possible for this task.

The report should include the following information:

  • The characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of a sole trader.
  • The characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of a partnership
  • Consider all the factors and then distinguish which partnership you think Jamie should choose and provide reasons for why you say so.

 

The report must meet the following requirements

  • A cover page with your name, surname, class, subject and date.
  • Contents page
  • Must be in a essay format with headings
  • Only full sentences
  • Must be between 800-1000 words
  • Must of images
  • Must have a bibliography no plagiarism.

 

  • After this task is completed the learner would have be able to do know the following:
  • Define and explain what a sole trader and partner is.
  • Know the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of a sole trader.

  • Distinguish the difference between a sole trader and partnership.
  • Will have the ability two discuss both forms of ownership in detail and argue with reasoning which form of ownership to choose
