CCA Photography Webquest

Introduction

Photography is everywhere. By definition, photography is, "the art or practice of taking and processing photographs." In order to learn more about the basics of photography and the history that goes with it, you will be sent on a webquest for information. When you're ready, click on "task" to read your assignment.

Task

Imagine that you are a journalist. The CEO of the company that you work for has just assigned you a five page spread in their new Christian Photography magazine. This is a BIG deal. If you do well on this assignment, you'll receive recognition for your work and be given a major promotion. You're both excited and nervous....and READY to tackle this project head on. Your boss has given you a pretty small time frame so you have to begin very shortly.

Here is the copy of the email she sent you:

"Good afternoon,
With great excitement, we have decided to put into circulation a new magazine detailing the work of those who exalt the Lord in their photography work. I have chosen YOU to complete the first spread in this magazine and I know you will do a fantastic job. While there are many, many photographs that you will come across that touch you, we are looking to represent photographers throughout the years. This means that I would like you to find photographs that represent different decades but remain consistent in the fact that they all show a side of God. While some photos may be of a cross, others might be newborn babies being held by their parents, or hurricane victims being rescued. Anything that speaks to you about the love and caring nature of the Lord may be added to your 5-page spread. Additionally, you will be doing a short writeup on the history of photography, how far it has come, and the amazing photographs you come across.
I am trusting you with this project. Please don't let me down!"

Now that you've had a chance to read through her email once more, you are READY to begin NOW!

What you will turn in:

  1. 5 photographs that speak to you about the love of God along with a few sentences why (3 or more for each).
  2. 3 paragraphs about the history of photography and how far it has come.

You will have until the end of next week to complete this assignment. Photographs can be saved to USBs. You are allowed to either type or handwrite the written portion of this assignment. It is worth 100 points.
