Christmas Around the World

Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated all around the world, in many different countries, cultures, languages, and traditions.  You have been selected to teach a Kindergarten class about the Christmas traditions of a country of your choice.  The purpose of this WebQuest is for you to research the holiday traditions of your country, and explain how their traditions are the same as ours, and how they are also  different.  Your goal is to create a presentation for a Kindergarten class that is verbally and visually engaging.

 

 

Task

Your job is to create a Keynote presentation to present to a Kindergarten class, including dynamic pictures.  Your Keynote should include 12 slides:

     * Introduction slide

     * Flag of country

     * Map of your country

     * The day your country celebrates Christmas

     * How “Merry Christmas” is said in your country 

     * Special foods eaten for the holiday 

     * Symbol of the holiday 

     * Snapshot of the holiday

     * What Santa looks like, and what his role is in the holiday

     * Holiday traditions

     * Fun fact

     * Closing page with references

Process
  1. You will research a country and its Christmas traditions.
  2. Choose your country from the list using the resource below.
  3. Take notes on each component listed in the task section.
  4. Create a Keynote presentation that gives good detail, but limit your words to 20 per slide.
  5. When selecting pictures for your Keynote, make sure they are the main focus of your presentation.  The pictures should be the main source of the information, you will add to the presentation, but you should not read your slides.
  6. Remember you are the teacher and your audience is a class of Kindergartens.
  7. SAVE your Keynote as Christmas Around the World - (name of Country, last name)
