Introduction
Have you ever wondered what life was like in the 1950's and 1960's?
During this time period many things were going on. Schools, buses, restaurants, and many other things were being integrated. This time period was a turning point in some peoples' lives, and it is still historic to us today.
In this Web Quest, you will be able to research the important events that are referenced in our upcoming novel study. You will use this information to create a Google Slide Presentation of the historic happenings of the Civil Rights Movement.

Understanding the importance of specific historical events and important people during the 1950s and 1960s is crucial to understanding the Civil Rights Movement as a whole.
For the Web Quest, you will be researching four events from the Civil Rights Movement. During your research, you will fill out a research summary sheet over one topic of your choosing to help you consolidate your research. Then you will create a presentation using Google Slides. You can use the videos and links in the Web Quest to help you find pictures and create summaries that you will use for your Google slides. Your presentation will need to include the following slides:
- Introduction slide with title and your name
- Summary slide for the topic of your choice that includes summary of event (5-7 sentences), picture (with caption) from the event (3 total slides) Your summary should include why this event was important in the Civil Rights Movement.
- List of sources (videos and/or website used)

Day 1 - Tuesday
There are four different topics that you will need to choose from. You will be responsible for researching all topics, but will create a slide show over only one topic that you choose from the four and be able to explain why this event/people were important to the Civil Rights Movement to the class. You will tell what the person did or what was so important in the event that made it historic. Remember to get all the necessary information that's needed to help you create your slides.

Day 2 - Wednesday
Complete your research from Day 1 and fill out the research summary sheet which will be turned in for a formative grade.
Day 3 - Thursday
1. In Schoology, use the google slide show provided to start your slide show.
2. For the next step, you will begin creating your summary for the topic you have chosen. Begin adding your information from your research sheet and pictures to each of your slides. One picture with caption on each summary slide along with a 5-7 sentence summary of the event and its importance in the civil rights movement is required for a passing grade.
3. The last slide will list your sources (ie the websites that you used to write your summaries) There will be 3 TOTAL slides
