Introduction
This WebQuest was designed for students learning about becoming conscious or wise consumers. As part of our National curriculum Grade Nine students should; appreciate that transactions with money are integral to everyday life; develop an appreciation of the value of money; locally and internationally; and understand the need for accuracy and honesty in dealing with money. This WebQuest is also a helpful way for the teacher to engage the student.

Its Christmas again and the shooping frenzie is on; everyone is looking for a good bargain a way to save money To some it enjoyable but for many shopping during this festive seaon can be a hassle and very stressful. Many persons try to take advantage of the deals offered by the different merchants; whether it be cash discount, hire purchase or consumer loans.
For this project or investigation you and your group of classmates will in investigate different buyiing option to advise client what options are available.
We want to encourage people from all over thecountry and even all over the world as to how to make shopping stress free during the holidays. Our goal is to help Vincentians to become conscious consumers. Along the way you will learn how Use calculations to compare the prices of similar items; to select best value for money; Perform computations to make decision relevant to value for money, Make conclusions based on comparison between differen type of purchases.

TASK
Your Brokerage firm is contracted to reseach the best deal for buying a state of the art appliance namely a LCD internet ready Television 42 to 52 inches size for use in the school. The options to consider are hire puchase, consumer loan or buy online using credit card.
The task is to form groups of three(3) where each member investigate one of the options. THe findings will be presented using a power point presentation incooperating excel worksheets to show different calculations, showing comparisons using mathematical concepts and operations to come up with a final conclusion.

As a group you will decide which option each Broker will take.
1. Hire purchase option: This member will investigate the enterprise thats offering the better hire purchase deal. Picture of the items must be shown and the comparative calculations from the investigated firms.
2. Comercial loans. This member will investigate the the better deal among a sample of comercial banks and/or credit Union. THeir rates and figures must be given with the necessary calculations.
3. Online Buying. This member will investigate the purchase on tow reputable online stores see resource table. Pictures of the items plus all cost associated with getting the product to the client. This includes shipping, freight cost and exchane rate cost.
Information from Interviews and research will be collated and presented.
