Communism and Democracy are two political ideologies or philosophies that dictate how political systems should be managed. Both systems are considered to be 'left-wing' on the political spectrum and more liberal in nature than some other political ideological alternatives (i.e. fascist or conservative ideologies).
This week, you will be conducting research on Communism and Democracy in preparation for your Socratic Seminar on Friday answering the question: "Which political ideology best addresses a country's issues: communism or democracy?"
First, you will need to learn what ideologies and theories are by looking at these:
Read these articles and complete a PERSIA chart analyzing how Communism and Democracy ideology/theory is reflected in those aspects. You can create your PERSIA chart using Google Slides, Piktochart, Canva, etc.
If you need help with what a PERSIA, feel free to use the guide Ms. Mahon gave you.
By the beginning of class on Thursday, all PERSIA charts should be completed, so that you can analyze and compare how each political philosophy addresses all 6 issues: Political, Economic, Religious, Social, Intellectual, and Artistic.
At the end of the week, we will have having a Socratic Seminar answering the question, "Which political ideology best addresses a country's issues: communism or democracy?"
