Introduction

By the end of this assessment you will

  • Choose a controversial topic
  • Write a topic proposal
  • Conduct your own research of credible sources
  • Use your three sources to research ideas in order to form a claim
  • Use evidence to support claim 
  • Address respectfully counterclaims
  • Refute counterclaims using evidence
  • Produce a final product that organizes your ideas into a formal 6 paragraph essay

 

Task

Monday: Your task is to select a controversial topic and pick a viewpoint to argue.

Thursday

1.Open up your Google Drive Account, Open Google Docs.

2. Identify the pros/cons within your resources. (use two color highlighters)

3. Create a pro/con worksheet and submit to Mrs. Riley for Review

4. Then click on the link below to download a copy of the outline we will use.Complete Outline

Friday (until finished-goal is next Wednesday)

1. Complete your outline. Mrs. Riley will review as you complete.

2. Complete rough draft.

3. Print rough draft and complete peer editing expectations

4. Complete Final draft 

5. Print Final draft, self-assess and turn in with peer edit rough draft.
