Creating an ICT Culture in the Literature Classroom

Introduction

ICT in any classroom environment is a powerful tool for effective pedagogy. If teachers become committed to using it in the literature classroom, it will encourage an environment that fosters student autonomy, digital age literacy, motivation, inventive and higher-order thinking, effective communication and collaborative learning (Tinio, 2003). Additionally, ICT use in the literature classroom will provide a stimulating learning environment that allows students to compare their current realities and experiences to the cultural differences and experiences found throughout literary texts (Khatib et al., 2011).

Consequently, the purpose of this WebQuest is to augment teachers' knowledge regarding the importance of creating a classroom culture that is rooted in the effective application of ICT.

Task

The importance of creating a culture of utilizing ICT in the Literature Classroom cannot be ignored especially if teachers aspire to present students with a learning environment that mirrors their realities. With this in mind, the following are tasks that are geared towards augmenting teachers' understanding of creating a classroom culture of utilizing ICT in the teaching of Literature. These tasks must be completed. Certainly, you will find these activities to be a great help in finding ways to improve your pedagogy.
