Exploring the Underground Railroad

Introduction

The Civil War was a time period where the United States had different ideas on how to run the country. The Union (North) wanted freedom for the slaves as for the Confederates (South) believed that black people should be slaves to them. It is important to see how our country was so different in this time period of the civil war as well as acknowledge the different people who changed our country by their leadership and guidance to those suffering as slaves.
As we are learning about the Civil War, remember that slavery was one of the many problems that the North and South had and to keep in mind that the Underground Railroad helped thousands of slaves to freedom.
