Cultural Artifacts - Used to and Would

Introduction

This is a joint activity with parents. You will talk about past memories and showcase cultural artifacts from your childhood. We will start by talking about cultural artifacts and past memories. Second stage we will check resources on the internet about cultural artifacts and also about would and used to. Finally, you will create a video with your parents about cultural artifacts in Arabic and English. 

Task
  • You will create a video about cultural artifacts and past memories with your parent. 
  • In the video, you will showcase a cultural artifact that is significant to you both. 
  • You will use "would " and "used to" 
  • The video will be in Arabic (parent) and English (student). 
Process

1- You will talk about any cultural artifacts you know in class.

2-You will answer some exercises about the use of would and used to. 

3-We will discuss as a class the rubric of the project which is posted on Blackboard.

4- Watch the video about Arab cultural artifacts 

5- Watch other videos about cultural artifacts (check YouTube and other sources)

6- Watch video about the uses of would and used to. 

7- Note down would and used to from the video and discuss with your group the differences between the two terms.

9- Discuss project with parent and collect information about the cultural artifact you chose. 

10- Create a video about the cultural artifact in Arabic and English with your voices and post it in the designated discussion board in Blackboard.

11- Provide feedback to other students’ videos.

12- Incorporate classmates’ feedback into your video.

13- Share the final product with the classroom.

Evaluation

 

  • You will give and receive feedback about your video from your classmates.
  • Your video will be evaluated by instructor based on the criteria in the rubric.
