Introduction

Bienvenue!

You are about to embark on an exploration of the captivating regions of France. By the
end of your exploration, you and your partner will be experts on a selected region. You
will then be required to share your knowledge with your fellow classmates using a digital
presentation of your choice.  You may choose to present the information in the form of a
PowerPoint, or any other multimedia format such as a photo story, a digital scrapbook,
a video or a podcast.

 

 

Task

Tasks:

Your task is to explore the uniqueness of a selected region of France with a partner and, thereafter, to share the information you have gathered with your classmates. Your presentation may be done in a digital format of your choice (a PowerPoint, a video, a photo story, a podcast etc.) and must include a short quiz to evaluate your classmates understanding of the information.

Here is a list of the information that you will be required to gather and to present:

 

Region

 

Geography

The name of your region in English and French.

The location of your region depicted on a map of France.

Regions, countries, bodies of water or mountains bordering your region.

Capital city and other major cities located in that region.

The predominant climate of your region.

History

Any important historical event that occurred in your region.

Economy

The major economic activity or activities of your region (tourism, industry, agriculture etc.).

Culture

Any unique tradition, architecture or site that your region is known for.

 

 

Process

Step 1: Select a Partner

 Select a responsible partner to work with.

 Step 2: Select a Region

 Click on the following links and browse through the information to get some background knowledge on each region.

 Then, with your partner, agree on ONE region that you would be interested in exploring.

Get your teachers approval to explore that particular region.

(Note that regions will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis.)

 Step 3: Select  Roles

Once your selected region has been approved, negotiate the roles you will assume throughout the assignment.  Roles may include: Task Manager, Designer, Reporter etc.

 Step 4:  Explore the  Information

 Embark on your exploration to find answers to the following questions:

Geography

  1. What is the French and English name or your regions?
  2. Where is your region located? (Show on a map)
  3. What other regions, countries, bodies of water or mountains border your regions?
  4. What is the capital city of your region?  What are some other important cities located in that region.
  5. What is the predominant climate of your region?

History:

  1. What important historical event or events occurred in your region?

Economy

  1. What are the main economic activities of that region? (Tourism? Industry? Agriculture?... )
