Introduction

Welcome to Deforestation WebQuest! You will investigate the cause and effect of deforestation to our biodiversity. By the end of the activity, you will have deeper understanding about the impact of deforestation on our environment and find possible solutions for our local and national security.

Task

Your mission is to create a short investigation report and must include the following:

  1. Background information or studies about deforestation
  2. Survey from respondents about the cause and effect of deforestation 
  3. Analysis about the results of data gathered from the respondents
  4. Create intervention plan or possible solutions about deforestation
Process
  1. Gather background information or other relevant studies about deforestation
  2. Gather information from respondents (minimum of 10 respondents) about the effect and cause of deforestation
  3. Use any analytical tools to analyze the data being gathered
  4. Create a minimum of three intervention plan
  5. The last page of report should include the documentation

Objective: To engage students in exploring significant information about social environment issues through research and case studies. The students will be able to develop critical thinking skills and analytical skills, enhance their skills in writing research and be an active member of the society.

Preparation

Content: Discussed to the students about the format and outlines of their short investigatory report/research. 

Resources: Provides articles and other research studies to help students what will be the content of their study.

Plan for Group work: Divide the class into three group.

Set Timeline: Set the deadline of the output and presentations.

Presentations: Prepares the materials needed during presentation. (projector, laptop, table and chair, and panel)

Schedule checkpoints: There should have schedule checkpoints to monitor the progress of their study, and allowing students to ask questions and what areas they might find difficult and address issues and concerns.
